Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer discounts?
Trilogy offers the deepest discounts directly through its website.
Do you have special rates for kids?
Children ages 3-12 are half price on all our trips. Teens 13-18 are 25% off on all trips. Under 3 are free.
Do you have special rates for seniors?
Currently we don't have senior rates. However, some of us are approaching senior status and may change our policy soon!
Is your trip suitable for young children?
As a family owned and operated business we are especially aware of the needs of children of all ages. Most kids can learn to snorkel as early as 2-3 years old. Our crew is especially good working with children. Each of our trips are different, but all have lots of fun things to do for kids!
Will I be likely to get seasick?
With our large stable ocean tested catamarans, coupled with the protected waters we sail, seasickness is very rare.
Is there shade on your boats?
All of our vessels have either covered cabins or awnings or both.
Is there a cabin where I can sit and/or put my personal gear?
All the vessels have ample storage area for personal gear. Trilogy 1, 4, 5 & 6 have the largest covered cabins.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Our primary goal is your safety and satisfaction. Because we have a 100% guarantee on all our trips, we won't go out in weather that would make it difficult to show you a good time. Remember: island weather can be very deceptive -- i.e. It can be raining and windy a couple of miles north of Lahaina, and calm and sunny in Lahaina and on Lana'i.
How many passengers go on your boats?
Each boat is US Coast Guard certified for substantially more passengers that we take on our trips. Generally we take 15-20 couples on our 55 ft. cats, and 20-25 couples on our 65 ft. cat.
Where does your Kaanapali trip go to snorkel and SNUBA dive?
The Kaanapali trip leaves right from the beach on West Maui and can choose from several miles of coastline with many SNUBA dive and snorkel sites. During the summer months we typically go north to Honolua Bay, and in the winter south to Olowalu.
How far in advance do we need to make reservations?
During holidays several weeks advance reservation is recommended to guarantee the trip and day of your choice. Most of the time a week to ten days advance reservation is adequate.
I'm getting married and wondering if you have special group rates?
We have a separate Group Department that plans a wide variety of trips and special functions for groups as small as 4 to as large as 400. You can call them direct at 1-888-225-MAUI Ext.
225.
Which site has the best snorkeling- Molokini or Lana'i?
Both sites are considered excellent. Molokini has some of the best and most consistent water clarity in Hawaii. It does get a bit crowded however. (One of the reasons we get such an early start!) Hulopoe beach on Lana'i has been called one of the top 10 dive sites in the world. We are the only company with permission to bring visitors to this incredible spot! Most of the time the diving and snorkeling here is as good as it gets. There are a few days during the summer months when surf from the South Pacific reduces the visibility. But 95% of the time, the diving and snorkeling here is world class!
I would like to get a job at Trilogy- what should I do?
We are always looking for quality crew. The best way is to come in personally and have an interview. The next best way is to call our toll free number 1-888-225-MAUI and ask for a Job App. Or you can email us at ckinkade@sailtrilogy.com.
If advance booking is necessary can we book online or by phone only?
Phone reservations using our toll free number 1-888-225-MAUI is immediate and direct. However, we answer all e-mail within a day or two.
Do you have Gift Certificates for sale?
Yes, you can purchase them here at our website or call our toll free # 1-888-225-MAUI.
We are going on the Kaanapali trip. Is there parking available?
Parking is available at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel parking structure right near our departure point. Take your parking ticket to our staff at the Trilogy Ocean Sports Beach Kiosk before or after your trip and they will validate it so you may exit the parking structure without charge.
What is the youngest age you would allow for SNUBA diving if the parents were going to join the dive as well?
Whether the parents dive is not the question. Children must be a minimum of 8 years of age.
Do you offer internet discounts?
From time to time, we may offer seasonal on-line discounts. Check our web site for details.
On the Lana'i trip, do we get to see the Hotels?
All of our Discover Lana'i trips offer the island tour. We drive past the two luxury hotels but don't stop and go inside. We can arrange a special hotel tour for an additional charge.
When do you see whales?
The Humpback whales arrive in Hawaiian waters sometime in November and stay until sometime in April. From December through March we see whales almost every day.
How often do you see Dolphins?
Dolphins, both Spinner and bottle nose, are in Hawaiian waters year round. Depending on feeding cycles, we can see dolphins almost daily.
Can we swim with the Dolphins?
Federal law prohibits harassment of any marine mammal. Swimming with dolphins is considered by some to be harassment. So, while we don't offer swimming with dolphins, we are pleased to report that dolphins have been coming in to Hulopoe Bay on a regular basis to swim with us!
Which trip is best for first time snorkelers?
We specialize in first time snorkelers on all our trips. The real difference is that our Lana'i trips snorkel from the beach, while the Molokini and Kaanapali trips snorkel from the boats.
What is your cancellation policy?
We follow the industry standard 24 hour cancellation requirement. However, we always try to reschedule our guests as we know your plans can change suddenly.
Can I bring my baby?
Infants and small children are always safe on our trips. It is more a question of how much extra work they will represent to you. On the plus side, children under 3 are free!
Do you have life jackets for my kids?
We can provide both kids jackets and/or ski belts for on board and in water activity.
Will you watch my kids while my husband and I go diving?
We can usually find one of the crew to watch small children for a limited time. Generally we try to schedule dives separately so one parent can stay with children.
Do you have car seats for the van tour?
We don't offer car seats as a general rule. But we can provide one if requested.
